We made the first ever for our Golden boy who loved the beach but soaked our car and home! He also travelled with us and we needed to dry him and protect our accommodation from a soggy dog.

Quality Dog Drying Coats - to us its all about the dogs
When we made our first drying coat it had to be comfortable for him. (or he would refuse to wear it!). It also had to be quick to put on, to reduce stress for us and him!
And NO VELCRO, it is fiddly to use and he didn't like the sound of it! It also wears out very quickly and gets full of debris, reducing the time his coat would last. Instead we created a long wide belt, easy to tie, giving tummy cover too. We made a big snuggly hood that looked good up or down and we added a tail hole to make sure he could wag his tail, dogs get stressed when they cannot signal to other dogs with their tails. We shaped it to fit giving space for movement. When we started to make for other sizes we called in matching breed types and shaped the coat to fit them perfectly.
Please remember these are Drying Coats and not designed for bush walking as they absorb everything including sticks!

I’ve been using these drying coats for several years and absolutely love them. I’m a guide dog handler and it’s important that my dog dries quickly after an outing to the beach then out to dinner. I recommend these drying robes to everyone I meet on the beach. They’re the best I’ve come across and the bag they come with comes in handy to hold not only the robe but a brush and folding water bowl.
We are unbelievably happy with our surf dog drying coat. The customer service we received is also incredible and they made sure we were 100% happy with our coat. Our girl loves swimming and now we pop this on her and she is dry after about 30 minutes which is amazing for a goldy! We cannot recommend highly surf dog enough.
First let me start by staying that i have purchased quite a few drying coats for my water/mud loving Golden, Majic. I have never been able to use each one more than twice. She has a sound sensitivity and the noise of the velcro closures can send her into a panic.

Features and science
Our coats are beautiful, comfortable and long lasting coat but the reason you are buying one is to DRY your dog! After testing all possible fabrics on wet dogs (cotton, bamboo, pretty patterns etc) the fabric (we have used for 15 years) was an outstanding winner. Most drying coats have fabric made of tiny loops that snag and tear in time. Cotton and bamboo get heavy when wet, water stays in the fur and the coat just gets soggy. . Anything printed has to be thin to enable the printing process and the ink used further reduces absorbency.
You can measure absorbency by the weight of the coat before and after use. Our coat can pull 4 times its weight in water from your dog. A large size weighs about 450grams. If put on a very wet dog it can hold 2 litres of water, take it off and your dog is dry! The fabric draws water away from coat and skin, moisture is pulled through the weave with capillary action until it reaches the outside surface. Once exposed to the air this water evaporates to completely dry your dog. Our coats suck all the water out down to the skin. There is also more fabric in our coat to wrap your dog completely drying him with one big hug! Our Drying Coats cover tummies, ears and bums (particularly important if they sit in the back of your car!)

Surfdog Australia sizes are not the same as you will find in the pet stores. If you have a coat marked Medium do not assume our sizes are the same.
In China often a small dog is a 'medium'
We have worked out the coinciding measurement for necks, chests and tummies after checking 1000's of dogs - always leaving ample room for those other dimensions

A Little Note on Colour:
We do our best to show our products as true to colour as possible. Most of our photos come from customers so please forgive homely backgrounds.
